CELEBRATION OF SANDY’S LIFE SERVICE will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the funeral home with Ronnie Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Oblong Cemetery.

Sandra Sue “Sandy” Smith, 70, of Oblong, Illinois passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2015 at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong. Born on February 17, 1945 at home in Lawrence County near the Pinkstaff area, she was the daughter of James Herman Crouch and Snotha Mae (Earnest) Crouch. On November 2, 1963 she married Jerry Lee Smith in Bridgeport, Illinois and he survives.
Sandy graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1963. She was previously employed at several places within Crawford County including Sears, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong IGA and retired from Stewart Securities in 2007. Sandy enjoyed camping and taking care of her “grandbabies”.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Jerry Lee Smith of Oblong, IL.; a son and daughter-in-law Travis and Teresa Smith; a daughter Stacy Houser and Bob Baldwin, all of Oblong, IL.; five grandchildren: Amber Goodwin, Hardinville, IL.; Abby Jo Williamson, Hutsonville, IL.; Jason Andrews and Ashley Schoncheck, and Seth Smith, all of Oblong, IL.; and Derek Yager, Indianapolis, IN.; four great-grandchildren Carson and Alden Andrews and Kairi Giffin, all of Oblong, IL; and Anna Lee Inboden, Hardinville, IL.; three sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley and J. B. Buckner, Clarksville, IL.; Judy and Gerry Shank and JoAnn Gaither, all of Lawrenceville, IL. a sister-in-law Aleta Crouch and brother-in-law Ronnie Crawford, both of Lawrenceville, IL.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Sandy in death were her parents; her daughter Shannon Smith in 2004; a brother Francis Crouch; a sister Carol Crawford and a nephew David Crouch.
